As More Dash always seek to search, maintain and promote new talents from emerging markets, that was the best time to support a Georgian Wave, as it was previously with a great success of supporting and developing Ukrainian Wave of the designers. Georgia is going through the rise of the fashion industry in the country and one of the most booming for now. The state agency “Enterprise Georgia”, under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable development of Georgia, is working on promoting export-oriented businesses in Georgia and out of the country and from the 2018 year is starting on working for the development and popularisation of Georgian Fashion Industry on the international level. The collaboration of this season is a strategic step toward conquering international markets by Georgian brands and “Made in Georgia” products.

From 28th February till 6th March 2018 at 21 rue du Bourg Tibourg in Le Marais 14 designers were represented this time in the More Dash showroom.

“Each season More Dash is expanding the geography of distribution by finding and showing brands from all over the world. We are very happy that this season we represented 8 designers from Georgia and had a chance to gave them a good start for their development. As from season to season the number of top buyers and interest from them is increasing”, – said Daria Shapovalova, co-founder and creative director of More Dash Showroom, listed in BOF-500 and Forbes 30 under 30.

“Two times each year, on Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons, renowned buyers from all over the world, are visiting Tbilisi, Georgia, not to miss the opportunity of finding new, talented, creative and progressive Georgian designers. Based on the statistics from the last Fashion Week, more than 100 internet articles from various magazines were published about the vast success of Georgian designers, including the magazines like Glamour, NowFashion, Vogue, Zoemagazine, Elle, Forbes, Wmagazine etc. It is important to mention that Georgian designers are actively participating in various showrooms in the Fashion capitals such as Paris, New York, Milan, and London, promoting their talent to the guests from all over the world. Thus recently, 8 Georgian talented designers, namely N-DUO, Dalood, Anouki, Ingorokva, Lako Bukia, Lalo, Materiel by Lado… , Materiel by …., LIYA showcased their latest collections in Moredash Showroom, where the most prestigious buyers visited them  in Paris and discussed future cooperation goals”, Zviad Kvlividze, Acting Director of Enterprise Georgia.

“We are very pleased that our goal to develop Eastern European designers and brands is becoming more and more successful each season.  In the end of 2017 year we announced the new project, which we develop in 2018 – More Dash Trade Missions, which is helping to the designers to make their first steps at the international markets: we help to find the most appropriate for the brand trade show, exhibition or showroom, as well as take care of the preparations and train designers for gaining the first orders. And we were very pleased, when state agency “Enterprise Georgia”, under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable development of Georgia approached us with the request to welcome Georgian designers in More Dash showroom. This is not the first time to work with Georgian designers – we saw this potential 3 years ago, when started collaboration with Anouki and N-duo brands, which turned into really exciting projects. For example, Anouki has been discovered in More Dash by Sara Maino of Vogue Talents and has been invited to show in Palazzo Morando – then started to show on the schedule of Milan Fashion Week. Exciting that the first order has been gained in the very first season and this is a great result! We believe this is just the beginning and proud to work on the diamonds of talents of the designers. We are so glad that other institutions follow us in this noble cause and start supporting designers as well.“- said Natalia Modenova, the co-founder and CEO of More Dash.

“Beside the rapid and massive success of Georgian designers all over the world, I should note that Georgian designers have been in the fashion industry for more than decades and left their trademarks. Namely, David Komakhidze, known as David Koma, is a Georgian fashion designer based in London, UK, who has showcased his first collection at the age of 15. In December 2013, House of Thierry Mugler announced that David Koma was appointed as the new artistic director of the brand. Davidi created exclusive dresses for the celebrities like Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Beyonce for several times. David Koma is not the only famous and successful Georgian designer in the world. Mr. Gavasalia, a 34-year- old Georgian designer is a rising star in the fashion world, current creative director of Balenciaga, with stints at Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton before launching his own brand, VETEMENTS in 2014. Stating that he has altered the Fashion industry, NY Times Magazine published an article under the title of “These Two Guys are Changing How We Think About Fashion” connoting about Alessandro Michele of Gucci and Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga and Vetements, who are making clothes that capture the zeitgeist. It will take all our time to talk about all the other talented and famous Georgian designers, but it will be unfair not to mention talented Georgian stylist Ketevan Gvaramadze who is a personal stylist for Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes and collaborates with a trendy Georgian designer Tamuna Ingorokva. Creative industry has a major importance in the Economy and Sustainable development of the country. Thus the Creative Entrepreneurship development aims to support the people within the creative industry. Exactly, for this reason, the Enterprise Georgia actively supports Fashion Weeks and connects the buyers and bloggers with local, creative and progressive designers.” – said Mariam Turnava, portfolio manager of Export Promotion Department of Enterprise Georgia.
