Spring-Summer 2016: Balancing the Differences
Having successfully debuted with the AW 15/16 collection, designer and showman Theodore Dekan presents SS 16. The collection keeps in the same vein as the first one, revealing brand DNA, the character and values of the designer himself, who draws inspiration from his artistic experience and mood.
Silhouettes. Modern, specifically feminine, elongated. Dynamic elongated proportions are balanced between equality and contrast.
Fabrics. Silk, cotton-silk reps fabric, silk organdy, polished cotton, cloak fabrics — satin and matte, as well as a metallic effect, leather, summer suit wool.
Color palette. The new season palette is a mix of neutral grey, black and milk tones with bright and intense hues of lemon, tangerine orange, green orange and a touch of “Prussian blue”.
Print. The designer uses his artistic experience to create three author prints for day, cocktail and evening dresses and for a line of silk shawls and scarves.

Spring/Summer 2016: IN A RELATIONSHIP
LIFE, RELATIONSHIP, AND TIME ARE ALL ENTANGLED WITH EACH OTHER.
PARADOXICALLY, THIS CONNECTION SEEMS COMPLICATED, YET QUITE SIMPLE;
TIME IS RUNNING, RELATIONSHIP BEHIND THE WHEEL, AND LIFE BEGINS.
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LIVES AND CREATION OF LIFE
ARE CORE OF THIS COLLECTION.
Vardoui Nazarian (RU)
Among the images that influenced the choices of shapes and materials for the Spring-Summer 2016 collection are the Moscow Telegraph Building and the memorial house of filmmaker Sergei Paradzhanov that pointed the designer towards several constructive solutions. The texture and muted colours of tufa that’s been used for construction of many buildings in Armenia’s capital Yerevan influenced the choice of basic fabrics and colour schemes. Modern-day interpretation of Armenia’s art and tradition have always been one of the features of this fashion brand.
The Spring-Summer 2016 collection combines loose-fitting and tailored pieces, the contrasted stitching of denim overalls and the soft cashmere coats and pastel-coloured cocoon raincoats. But the confrontation of puffed-out details and elaborate design — of the soft silk and cashmere and the tough, form-fitting and texturized denim and poplin — are only an appearance. Both the wraparound cashmere cocoons and the severe dresses with a thick breastplate that remind one of plate armour are, in fact, a protection from the aggressive outside world. And the use of coloured metallic lame reminiscent of foil only underscores this metaphor.
